The music world is filled with grief as legendary singer Asha Bhosle is no more. At the age of 92, she leaves behind a legacy that will continue to echo through generations. Known as the queen of versatility, Asha ji’s voice had a magic that could bring every emotion to life — from romantic melodies to peppy dance numbers and soulful ghazals.
Speaking to us, Indian Idol finalist Parleen Gill shared how deeply the icon has influenced him. “When I think of Asha Bhosle ji, the first word that comes to my mind is versatility. She was fearless with her singing and always ready to experiment. That’s what makes her a true legend,” he said.
Parleen also opened up about his favourite songs of the legend. He mentioned classics like “Piya Tu Ab To Aaja” and “Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko” as his personal picks. According to him, while one showcases unmatched energy and attitude, the other touches hearts with its soft and timeless melody. “She could switch moods so effortlessly, and that’s something we still learn from today,” he added.
Talking about her legacy, Parleen shared, “Legends like Asha ji never really leave us. Her songs are part of our memories. Even today, young singers like us learn so much from her work.”
