Some lost things eventually become memories. But for actor Akhlaque Khan, one such memory suddenly returned after nearly two decades.

The actor has been reunited with a mobile phone that was stolen from him in Andheri back in 2008. What makes the story even more unusual is how the phone disappeared in the first place — through a fake acting opportunity.

The incident happened when Khan was approached by a man claiming to be a producer shooting a commercial. The stranger allegedly convinced him to accompany him for a modelling opportunity and later asked to borrow his phone while they were at a mall in Kandivali.

Khan soon realised that the man had disappeared with the device. He lodged a complaint at Oshiwara police station, but after so many years, the actor had eventually stopped expecting to see his phone again.

Akhlaque Khan Got A Surprise Call From Oshiwara Police

The unexpected twist came years later when the Oshiwara police contacted Khan and asked whether he had lost a phone back in 2008.

Initially, the actor reportedly suspected that the call itself could be another scam. However, the details matched his old complaint. Police had recovered a collection of phones connected to theft cases from between 2007 and 2010, and the accused in the case had been arrested and sentenced to three months in jail.

Why Akhlaque Khan Kept The 18-Year-Old Phone As A Memento

The phone may no longer have much practical value, but Khan decided not to throw it away.

He wanted to switch it on and see what remained inside, but the charger for the old device is now obsolete. Instead, he has kept the phone as a reminder of an unbelievable chapter from his past.

Khan also described the reunion humorously, comparing the moment to a “Kumbh Mela” reunion and joking that after 18 years, getting the phone back is more useful as a story to tell friends than as a functioning device.

The latest update has turned an old theft case into a bizarre Mumbai story with an unexpectedly happy ending — Akhlaque Khan finally has his long-lost phone back.
